Background
Professionally, I am a Board Certified Orthopedic Physical Therapist. I was a core faculty member at Pacific University School of Physical Therapy where I practiced and taught for 16 years. I am also a residential real estate investor.
A windsurfer since 1987, I am currently a sponsored team rider for Sailworks Sails and Starboard Windsurfboards. I am also sponsored by ProMotion Wetsuits, Trident Sports, and Emergen-C energy drink. Many thanks to all of these companies for making great products and helping me compete in one of the greatest sports on earth!
Through my participation in the highest level of windsurf racing in the nation, I offer sponsors frequent public exposure to corporate signage. Highly visible logos are applied to my sails that I use anytime I am practicing or racing. On the water training begins in late February and continues through September or early October. Racing begins in May. Dry land training occurs year around. In 2007, I was on the water more than 80 days. Your logos will also be seen whenever my sails are on the beach, in media photographs, and on websites.
For 2008, I plan to compete in the summer long Gorge Cup series in Oregon/Washington, the long distance Gorge Blowout, one to two Cal Cup races in San Francisco Bay, the Midwest Speedquest and week long US Nationals, both held in Worthington, Minnesota. In August, I will also again be involved in training the US Junior National Windsurfing Team.
Since I train in the windsurfing and recreational mecca of the Columbia River Gorge, exposure is significant even when official events are not being held. On race days, this effect is amplified because of press and spectator attendance. In 2005 for example, ESPN covered the US Windsurfing Nationals in Hood River, Oregon.
So who is a good candidate for Jay Salzman Windsurfing sponsorship? Any business or organization, small or large, that wishes to gain exposure to a wide audience can benefit. Because of limited sail size, however, I can only take on three to four primary sponsors at a time. The next level of sponsorship involves smaller signs on the bottom of the sails. In spite of these size limitations, I can offer an unlimited number of sponsorships on jaysalzmanwindsurfing.com (post corporate web site link only).
